Issues

My promise to you
For nearly 40 years, I’ve been listening to and advocating for our communities as a TV news anchor and reporter. You have trusted me to shine a light on our issues, big and small. Now, with our basic rights and democracy under attack, I’m joining the fight. You deserve a Representative in Congress who will fight for your freedoms and work hard to make life more affordable for middle class families.

Protecting Our Rights
When the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, I had to look into the TV camera and tell women that for the first time in 50 years our reproductive rights are no longer protected under federal law. Women must be able to make their own health care decisions with their doctors. But Congressman Scott Perry thinks politicians like him should be able to tell you when, where and how to start a family. It’s why he supports banning abortion even in cases of rape and incest. He even supports a law that would ban IVF. In Congress, I will fight to ensure the protections guaranteed under Roe are once again the law of the land.

Bringing Down the Cost of Living
Central Pennsylvania families feel the price pinch every day. Instead of a do-nothing Congress, we need bipartisan problem-solving to pass legislation that lowers the cost of necessities— including food, gas, housing, prescription drugs and more. In Congress, I will fight for high-quality, affordable health care. Big Pharma and insurance companies have jacked up prices and put lives at risk. You should never have to decide between putting food on the table or paying for the care you need.

Investing in Jobs
I am running to fight for good-paying jobs and to bring down the cost of living. The minimum wage of $7.25 in Pennsylvania is outrageous. It’s lower than that of any surrounding state, including West Virginia. At PA’s minimum wage, an hour’s worth of work barely buys a gallon of milk and a loaf of bread. We have lost too many jobs due to unfair trade deals and mergers and acquisitions. Central Pennsylvanians deserve a Representative who will advocate for policies that create good-paying jobs, keep them here with our highly-skilled workforce, and support our hard-working families.

Fixing Congress
We need to reform our broken Congress to ensure Representatives are responsive to their constituents, not special interests or personal greed. That’s why I support legislation introduced by Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX-21) banning Congress and their families from trading individual stocks. Too often, former members of Congress cash in on their time in office by accepting high-paying lobbying jobs. I would vote to ban former Congresspeople from lobbying. I also support a Constitutional amendment that would prohibit all Members of the U.S. House from serving more than 6 terms (12 years). I think America would be stronger with fewer career politicians. Unlike Scott Perry — who is seeking his 7th term this year — I’ll practice what I preach and refuse to serve more than 6 terms.

Honoring Veterans
In Congress, I will vote to ensure that those who serve our country in the Armed Forces receive the benefits they have earned. Congressman Perry voted against the largest expansion of veterans’ benefits and health care in VA history. In Congress, I will do the opposite and vote to expand access to health benefits, continuing education, and job-training to equip veterans for continued success back home in our communities.

Education
I will be a champion for our educators and the youngsters who, literally, are our future. This is personal. I am from a family of educators. When I was a child, my father moved furniture for a summer job, to ensure his four girls had food on the table. Schools are the bedrock of our communities and the foundation of America. We should prioritize educating our children and making sure teachers, ESPs, meal servers and bus drivers have the pay and respect they deserve.
